Connecting a Product to SEAL NATS

If you use SEAL NATS with PLOSSYS Output Engine or DPF, some changes need to be done in Consul after installing that product. The keys are the same for both products.

TLS

When using TLS encryption with SEAL NATS, the following keys need to be set in Consul:

  • BROKER_FORCE_TLS: specifies if the SEAL NATS message broker uses TLS.
  • BROKER_REJECT_UNAUTHORIZED: specifies if self-signed TLS certificates from the message broker will be rejected.

Token Authentication

When using token authentication to secure client connections of SEAL NATS, the following key needs to be set in Consul:

  • BROKER_TOKEN: specifies the message broker access token.

Clustering

If you are running PLOSSYS Output Engine or DPF in a cluster, SEAL NATS needs to be installed on every server of that product. Additionally, the following key has to be set in Consul:

  • BROKER_SERVERS: specifies the message broker server hosts and ports.

Hint - key-value store keys for PLOSSYS Output Engine

PLOSSYS Output Engine additionally uses KV_* keys to configure the NATS key-value store used by seal-co-notifier. These keys are optional, each has a default value. DPF does not use the NATS key-value store. Refer to the PLOSSYS Output Engine key reference for details.
